Start by deciding what areas of research interest you and find out who is working in that area. Refer to the "Members" page to find out what professors are working on. Then you may proceed to the application forms.
You can be admitted to only one of two universities. If you are interested in more than one area of study, you may submit individual applications, with related fees, to either or both universities. You should prioritize an application to the university offering your first choice of program. Select from the programs listed below.
Non-Resident students (International Students) please refer to the "International Students" page before proceeding.
Applications for admission to graduate programs may be submitted at any time. However, prospective students who apply early increase their chances of securing financial support for their graduate studies. In addition, applications for admission from outside Canada should be completed at least five months before the desired date of admission in order for students to make the necessary visa arrangements.
For complete details on how to apply please view the instruction page for your selected university: Carleton University or University of Ottawa.
Applicants to the University of Ottawa are required to submit a completed referee form, available in PDF format. If you are applying to Carleton University, once you complete your online application, your referees will be notified directly so you do not need to send them a referee form.
At Carleton University, the Electrical and Computer Engineering program is offered by two separate departments: Department of Electronics and Department of Systems and Computer Engineering. You must choose ONE of these two departments through which to apply. It is very important that your preferred area of research and supervisor(s) belong to the department through which you apply. Look through the Members page carefully to determine which department the supervisor belongs to (either DOE or SCE if applying to Carleton University).
At the University of Ottawa, the Electrical and Computer Engineering program is offered by the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS). A description of the different research area can be found under (https://www.uottawa.ca/faculty-engineering/research).
